The last cup of tea

18 May

It is so strange – that feeling that Dad is not there with us any more, is something which is so strong… He is gone, but his presence is felt all around.

Tea Cup Coversations

When I make that morning cup of tea, and sit with the newspaper, I remember him each day… He was very fond of drinking tea and used to cherish his three cups of tea everyday.

Each doodle or sketch of a tea cup I draw, Dad, is for you.

stress busters at the Doctor’s clinic(s)

26 Apr

Last week, while the interviews for the undergraduate admissions at NID were underway, I was also doing the rounds of the Doctor’s clinic(s) with various reports of both my parents. People – mostly patients, and their attendants were glued onto the TV set which was broadcasting the much hyped IPL cricket matches. I was content as I had a few scraps of paper and a new ball point pen with me.

It was hot (almost 43 degree Celsius) and humid with just a window and the fan in full speed, I did not notice the beads of sweat on my forehead, till a drop fell on the sheet. It was like meditation, oblivious of the outer world.

While I made almost a dozen waiting for my turn at two other doctors, I am sharing a few here…

yellow marker in a meeting

6 Jul

Hi. Last week, I was attending a very interesting meeting in the NID auditorium – there were almost 50 of us and the meeting was chaired by the Director of our institute. of course in such meetings, most of us listen as few of us go on talking and talking 😉

I had a yellow marker and a new black ball point pen (reynolds liquiflo). the combination was quite remarkable – flourescent, check these out

of course, a lot of us were yearning for a cup of hot tea at the end of a tiring weekend and what was coming to my mind and flowing on the paper, were these –

smoking is injurious to health

16 Nov

While I am personally trying very hard to quit smoking, it is not happening. The Government of India has helped to some extend by legally banning the act of smoking in public, and it has helped reduce my consumption of the 78 mm long tobacco stick, I have not been able to get rid of it completely.

Found this illustration of a cigarette stub which was done during my students days (sometime in 1992-93). of course, those days I never used to smoke. I actually began my affair with the white stick sometime in 1998, and then quit for a while in 2000-01. But then again started during a workshop at Pachmarhi..

Old habits die hard, but some habits have to die…
